Today we’re introducing the Logitech® Broadcaster Wi-Fi® Webcam, a new wireless webcam that makes it easy for video professionals, bloggers and hobbyists alike to create more dynamic and professional-looking videos.
Whether you’re a professor filming a lecture, a musician creating a music video or a chef demonstrating how to bake a cake, the Logitech Broadcaster gives you the flexibility to do more than with other webcams, including direct live streaming to Ustream® from the camera and video chatting with your favorite applications.
To instantly broadcast live HD video to a global audience on Ustream, simply connect the Broadcaster to your Wi-Fi network and you can start broadcasting with the push of a button. You can also use the Broadcaster app on your Mac, iPad or iPhone to manage the broadcast and post announcements on Facebook and Twitter to encourage friends to tune in.
Made for Mac, the Logitech Broadcaster can also act as a second video camera, adding a complementary perspective to capture content beyond your computer’s embedded webcam. You can capture views from the Logitech Broadcaster and your Mac’s embedded webcam simultaneously and then stitch the two together for more dynamic content.
The Logitech Broadcaster also makes video calling more interesting. You can use its wireless freedom to give a house tour to your parents, and easily switch over to your built-in webcam when you’re ready to sit and chat. If you’re using Skype to chat, you can simply press the button on top of the Logitech Broadcaster to switch between the two cameras on the fly. Its compatible with popular Mac video applications, so you can record video with QuickTime® or Photo Booth®, edit and view videos with iMovie® or Final Cut Pro®, and video chat with FaceTime®, iChat® or Skype.
Check out the video below to see the Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam in action and let us know what you think in the comments below.

It’s a pity you don’t make these products for dual use with Mac and PC.

it make sense to introduce a Windows version with Intel WiDi

Thanks for your suggestion Khaled. We have passed it on to our team.

I agree – this should have been designed for dual formats. I have both Mac and PC. Other artists I know are on PC only and would have loved to be able to buy one of these.

I am using the new wireless Logitech webcam. It is a revolution of sorts. The features are just mind-bogglingly crazy.

Hi guys – excited about this, as it’s going to be able to replace a machine that I’m currently dedicating solely to video streaming. Any idea when these will be shipping?
Logitech | October 25th, 2012 at 13:15

I’m a professor, and I bought this device because I wanted to stream lectures. I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed because (apparently) I cannot use the device on campus. I suspect it is impossible to use it on any college campus. If your network uses enterprise level WPA2 (which requires both a username and a password to get on the network), then you will be very disappointed when you try to set up this device. We even tried creating an ad-hoc network. Nada!
So it appears that this is useful only in areas where you are required to enter a password (no username). That also means that you cannot stream from, say, a coffeeshop that has free wi-fi.
If there’s a workaround, I’d love to hear about it. keltons@umkc.edu I’m a sad puppy.

Hi Stephanie, we apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact our Support Team to talk with a representative about this issue. They can be reached at +1 646-454-3200. Thank you.

Thanks. I called. The correct number (for assistance with wi-fi) is 888-469-4543. There is no hope. The logitech support crew (including supervisors) confirmed that the device cannot be used (as advertised above) by a professor with a (typical) enterprise level WPA2 network. It also cannot be used where there is free wi-fi (an awful lot of places these days). Basically, the rule is this: If you need to provide a username AND a password or you need nothing at all, then you’re not going to be able to live stream with this device. A major disappointment.

We would like to use this mounted to a remote control car to be able to control it from the computer. What kind of latency does the camera have over WiFi? Is there noticeable lag between what you’re shooting and the video feed on the computer?
Thanks!
Logitech | November 12th, 2012 at 14:56
Hi Brent. The video latency over Wi-Fi is similar to a USB camera (i.e under 300ms). Hope this helps!

We are wanting to use this to stream basketball games. Is there a convenient way to mount it to a try-pod to follow the action from one of the court to another? Also, my understanding is you can control the zoom feature from your ipad?
Logitech | November 21st, 2012 at 10:25
We are looking into this, Mike. We will get back to you soon. Thank you for your patience.
Sebastian | December 4th, 2012 at 09:20

is it available for PCs with Windows 7 or Windows 8 too? thx for giving me a reply …
Logitech | December 4th, 2012 at 10:06
Hi Sebastian, we appreciate your interest in the Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam. Unfortunately, it is not available for PCs with Windows 7 or 8. Right now, it is available for Mac computers with OSX Lion or later. Please check back in the future for any updates.
Luke | December 23rd, 2012 at 13:22
If we purchase 2 and they are running close together like say both sides of a basketball court
Will they interfere with each other and can you cut between the two with the software?
Thank you
