Protect Your Small Business with Logitech Alert

June is National Safety Month in the United States, and that has us at Logitech thinking about safety in our homes and small businesses. In the second post of this two-part series, we’re sharing tips on how to protect your small business – check out our earlier blog post on how to protect your home if you missed it.

For small business owners security is of the utmost importance – not only for personal safety, but also for the well being of their livelihood. The Logitech Alert 750n Indoor Security Camera and Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Security Cameras are easy, affordable solutions for protecting a small business even when the owner isn’t present, as well as deterring theft from both criminals and employees. Security cameras can also help protect employees and customers.

Take for instance, a pawn shop owner in Utah, who used his Logitech Alert system to catch a thief. The shop owner realized an iPod was missing, and his Logitech security camera showed a man stealing from an unlocked display case. In fact, you can clearly see the man putting the iPod in his pocket:

Along with daytime coverage, both systems are equipped with night vision and are motion-triggered, so even in total darkness the cameras can alert you of any movement via e-mail or text message, and you can live stream the video to your mobile phone or any PC – even if the camera is in total darkness. Plus, you can add additional Logitech Alert 700n and Logitech Alert 700e cameras to expand your system for more coverage.

If you have a small business, here are a few tips for how to best use security cameras to protect your small business:

  • Position cameras in a very visible area – the sight of a security camera can discourage any would-be thieves in and of itself.
  • When receiving a large stock of inventory, be sure not to leave discarded boxes outside until you know they will be picked up shortly.
  • Be sure to post signage indicating that your place of business is protected by video security.
