Keeping Your Home Safe When You’re Away

June is National Safety Month in the U.S., and for many of us, there is no place more important to keep safe than our home. Unfortunately, between working, running errands, meeting with friends and vacation time, it is nearly impossible to keep an eye on your home at all times.  A home video security system is a great way to safeguard your house and can give your family an added feeling of protection while you’re away.

Recently we announced, the Logitech Alert™ 750n Indoor Master System and Logitech Alert™ 700n Indoor Add-On Camera, both with night vision, to help protect what’s most important to you. With its wide-angle lens, ability to clearly spot movement up to 50 feet away in complete darkness and its HD quality video, these cameras can capture all suspicious activity. Both the Logitech Alert 750n Indoor Master System and Logitech Alert 700n Indoor Add-On Camera are motion triggered, so you can be alerted of any movement via e-mail or text message, plus you can live stream the video from any PC or mobile phone. Whether you’re in a company meeting or lying on the beach in Hawaii, you can rest assured knowing that your family, loved ones and valuable possessions are secure and looked after while you’re away.

To give you even more peace of mind, we’ve compiled some useful and insightful home safety tips:

  • To ensure safety at all times, make sure your family has a detailed home security plan with escape routes and specific meeting points in case you need to evacuate your home.
  • If you are leaving on vacation or will be gone for a prolonged amount of time, call the local police department to inform them you will be out of town and ask your neighbors to keep an eye out.
  • Be sure to not let mail pile up in your mailbox. The USPS’ website makes it easy to put a hold on mail for up to 30 days.
  • Make it seem like someone is home at all times. Use timers to turn lights on at night, keep a radio on or install motion sensor lights.

By investing in a home video security system and following the above tips, we hope that you’ll feel safe and secure leaving your home. Be sure to check back later this month, as we’ll share some tips on how to keep your small business safe. Do you have any additional home safety tips to share? We’d love to hear them.
