Introducing the Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Today, we announced our highly anticipated mechanical keyboard – the Logitech® G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. This new gaming keyboard combines high speed, quiet mechanical keys with dual-zone backlighting all in a performance-driven, no-nonsense design.

I’ve been using pre-production models of the G710+ for a while now and I think gamers will be really pleased with the attention to detail that we put in this keyboard. Honestly, keeping quiet and not telling anyone about this keyboard was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do at Logitech. We used premium mechanical switches that give both a tactile key-press feel but also reduce the typical clicking noise that some other mechanical switches have. Each key also has a built-in dampening ring to reduce noise distractions even more. And with an expected key cycle life of at least 50 million keystrokes, this keyboard will keep even the most serious gamers in the game for a long, long time.

Gaming has specific demands that you don’t have in day-to-day PC use, so we designed the keyboard with a full anti-ghosting matrix and 26-key rollover. This means you can press up to 26 keys simultaneously and all the keystrokes are fully reported to your computer. While almost no game would ever require 26 keys to be pressed simultaneously, it gives gamers the flexibility to press any key combination they want, when they want.

The adjustable dual-zone backlighting is another feature that’s targeted to give gamers the maximum use with minimal distraction. Gamers can adjust the backlight level of the WASD and arrow keys separately from the rest of the keyboard. In low light situations, this will give gamers another advantage by minimizing the chance of missing their gaming home row while playing.

Like our other G-Series keyboards, the keyboard has a full set of six programmable G-keys, convenient media controls, and our game mode switch that allows users to prevent accidentally pressing the Windows key. Plus, it looks just plain cool.

Check out the video below to learn more about how the new Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard can sharpen your game, and let us know what you think in the comments.

  • Fantastic keyboard. Hopefully I can get it asap. When will this keyboard release in Australia?

  • just make a G510+ mech or something with monitor on mechanical keyboards…it will be nice..no other manufacturer did that..the backlid: u should make it like Crossair K90..glowing under the key … just remember these…nowadays…people not just consider on usage but its cosmetic also ..

    • I wouldn’t say it’s not possible, but there’s a reason we make gaming wireless mice but not gaming wireless keyboards: Mice are moved around the desktop, so the convenience of lack of wires can offset any latency differences and recharging requirements. Since you’re not really moving a keyboard around the desktop like a mouse, the same offset isn’t quite there. While I cannot comment on what could happen in the future, for the G710+, we chose to make it wired.

  • Can it work with the g600 mmo mouse? (like in changing profiles etc etc). Any demo units for the philippines? HAHA

    • The G710+ and the G600 mouse both use LGS, so they’ll sync up and use the same profiles automatically.

  • Nice keybord 😀 Does i come in a version with an LCD display, (LIke the G510 or G19)
And does i come with the Danish keybord layout? and when will it be available in Denmark? 😀
I have been thinking trying to finde a subsitute for my old G15 V1, and think i maybe i have found it 😀

    • The G710+ does not have a screen variant, and I don’t have a time for when it will be available in Denmark. I do know that we’re making a variety of layouts for Europe though, but I’m not sure if there will be a Danish specific one. This keyboard certainly does feel great and it’s a blast to game on, so I recommend checking it out when you can 🙂

  • Will there be any chance for a version with Italian layout? There are so many mechanical keyboards out there but actually only a few models with an Italian layout, this is so annoying 🙁

  • Large keyboards force my mouse hand to be farther away, which is tiring. Any plan for a tenkeyless or an even more compact version ?

  • Looks great! A mechanical version of the G13 would be wonderful – I’d be in Logitech Peripheral Heaven. Here’s to hoping one is in the works 😉

  • Too bad this keyboard does’nt have the colored illumination just white. id rather have a bit of color.

  • Hopefully there will be a compacter version. It seems way to big for smaller hands. And any information about the coating of the keys? I HATE to have damaged keys with broken labeling caused by fingernails.

    • So, it’s a standard size keyboard. If you can use a normal keyboard, it shouldn’t be significantly different in terms of key size. Also, they’re a special multi-layer paint process where they keys are laser etched and then coated with another clear protective layer. They shouldn’t fade as it’s the same process we use on all of our other modern G-Series keyboards.

  • Not sure if it’s my computer, but the audio is really soft. I max-ed out my volume on my comp but I still can’t hear properly 🙁

    • It might be. Check the Youtube video volume levels too. I can confirm it works: I was just in a meeting and it played fine on a coworker’s laptop (It will always weird me out to hear my voice coming from a computer).

  • Please make a version without the macro keys on the left. This would be an instant purchase for me sans those macro keys

    • The macro keys can be fully disabled. Do you find that you accidentally hit the G-Keys when you play? I happen to like the G-Keys there: For example, I use G6 on this keyboard to control the shift DPI on the mouse, allowing me to slow down the mouse easily when sniping.

  • Finally! I’ve owned a few of your G-series keyboards, including the original G15 (my favorite), but always been bothered by the need to install the software to make use of the G-keys. Based on what I’ve heard, it seems like this version will let you program the G-keys once, then have those settings retained in the keyboard itself without the need for the software. Is that correct?

I like taking the keyboard with me to use on my laptop, but I don’t want the software on my laptop.

Also, regarding the earlier poster, please KEEP putting keys on the left side of the keyboard. That’s the only reason I use your keyboards versus a standard one. It might be worth considering putting some g-keys below the spacebar, though.

I didn’t see a release date. Can you confirm when it will ship to the USA? Your pre-order page didn’t give a date either unless I’m just missing it.

    • This keyboard actually does require the software to configure the G-Keys. Some of our mice have that functionality, but not this keyboard.

And while I don’t have a precise date, I think “very soon” it should show up in online retailers.

  • Shame to “noise reduce” I purchased my mechanical keyboard with Cherry Blues for the “clicky noise” as loud as I could get so If you do bring out a blue’s please don’t noise reduce it.

    • Some really don’t like the noise, but really like the feel. I think the switches we picked really represented a great solution where you get the tactile feel but you don’t have to annoy everyone else on your VOIP stream 😉

    • Soon, I believe. I don’t have an exact date, but we’re trying to get it in people’s hands as quickly as possible.

  • Will you use that horrible non-IBM keyboard layout, that everybody hates, with L shaped enter, for russian version? This layout with non classic place for slashes, tiny left shift and smallish enter is deal-braker for me. Why this discrimination? Do you hate russian people?

    • The Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard will be available in Europe beginning in December 2012. Please check back then and let us know if you have any questions!

  • I’m so glad Logitech finally has a mechanical keyboard! You guys have the best support, and this was a product that was really looking forward to.

  • looks awesome. but when my lcd on my g510 stopped working and my tab key as well last month I purchased a coolmaster storm mechanical keyboard instead. since you didn’t offer one at the time.

  • Oooh, that looks like a really nice entry in the G Series. I had the first version of the G15 for years until I replaced it with a G110 a little over a year ago. Hopefully this remains screenless and becomes available in solid black at some point.

I’m eyeing the G600 as a replacement for my Razer Naga too…

  • Please make a version that doesn’t have keys to the left of the keyboard?

You could call it another name if you like! But please… 😀

  • Looks absolutely amazing and nearly exactly what I was hoping for in my next keyboard. Sign me up as soon as you make one with red or black switches.

Any plans to move my G500 mouse to the same software the G600 and G710+ use? It already has to use an entirely different section of SetPoint 🙁

  • Any chance I could get the product width? I have a finite space for a keyboard and I’m strongly considering buying this. Bestbuy.com has it listed as 20.5″ wide… Any chance you could confirm this? Thanks!

  • Looks like another great keyboard. Well done. So many people have asked when are you bringing out a mechanical Keyboard and now you have finally done it. Excellent.
One disappointment, Why are your letters so small. More and more people need glasses these days and you make it hard for them to use a keyboard like this even though they are avaunt gamers.

  • I think it’s great keyboard! Although the release seems to have decided in the United States and EU countries, I think there is going to be released in Japan and other Asian countries? I want you to come also sold in Asian countries.

  • My original G15 has the G-keys default to the standard number keys and some Fx keys if you don’t have the software installed. Is it possible to have the G-keys on the G710+ default to unused keys like F13-F18?

  • What a great piece of engineering and attention to details. Looking forward to blogging from this keyboard. I think it’s a real joy. I own about 5 Logitech products and they’ve all held up flawlessly! The quality and materials are excellent. Keep up the good work.

  • I have g110 and g710+ look same as g110.-) I also like white backlight keys as its neutral color and won’t distract like other color keys that come along with other kb’s. though will request if you can add few more colors, if possible or something like Alienware laptop’s keyboards with multi-light at the same time. I mean anything.)

  • Hi

When will you release the LGS 8.40?

I’m content with even a beta version, Updated to 6.50 and lost the support to my G700.

    Thanks.

    • Hi Ahmed! At this time, SetPoint 6.5 is only recommended for select devices. If you don’t have a device that requires SetPoint 6.5 to run, it’s recommended you stay with SetPoint 6.32 for now. LGS 8.40 will be available in the future, so please stay tuned for updates.

  • Interesting keyboard! I think macrokeys for the thumb would be great. Will it be possible to use this keyboard with PS2 port via adapter.

I also hope that Logitech will build a G13 Version with mechanical keys, backlighting and an improved ergonomy.

  • I hope soon this great product hits Latin-america, but not with the awful Spain keyboard layout (as all the Logitech keyboards in Spanish), but with the LATIN-AMERICA layout.

    Greetings.

  • Looks good. Can the letter keys be pulled off and rearranged to create an altenate layout like Colemak?

  • IMO, this is the best thing Logitech has come out with since the G9 and maybe even the MX518. Assuming a couple of things (see below) I find VERY little to criticize, and a lot to commend. While I’ve owned 3 different Logitech keyboards 6 different Logitech mice (7 total with my 2nd G9) over the past few years, I’ve pretty much given up on the brand.

I’m currently in the market for a mechanical keyboard. After a LOT of research, I decided I wanted one with Cherry MX Brown keys and ultimately planned to purchase a N***** X8. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the lack of dedicated media controls (at least give me up/down volume & mute!). Instead you had to SHIFT+

The 710+ seems to be exactly what I want, but there are a few things that keep me from pre-ordering & possibly buying.

First, What brand/ & type of mechanical keys are used? Various websites report that Cherry MX Brown Keys are used, yet Logitech makes no mention of this. Cherry MX keys are dominate the mech keyboard market and are know for high quality. Brown keys ( hybrid of black & blue) are fast becoming the most popular. So why is Logitech silent on the matter? JMO, but I’m not buying anything without Cherry MX brown keys.

Second, please confirm that all keys other than the half-height controls/toggles at the very top of the keyboard.are mechanical keys. If correct, it’s a big plus vs. other “mechanical” gaming keyboards which use a mix of keys.

Third, in the video when discussing the dual lighting controls (0:50-0:58), the lighting is un-even. The S & D keys are much brighter (like 2x) than the W & A keys. That shouldn’t happen – epecially if each key has it’s own LED which I’ve read to be the case. Does each key have it’s own LED (big plus toward buying) or not. Why was the lighting so uneven?

Last, requiring two USB ports is disappointing. Yes most PCs have a lot of USB ports on the back panel, but they fill up fast. I’ll actually have to check that I have an extra one while still leaving at least one USB 3.0 port free. The X8 has FULL (i.e. all) key rollover using a single USB port. Not a deal killer per se, but disappointing none the less.

Sorry for the long post, but my resent experience with Logitech mice/keyboards hasn’t been very good, and I’m not at the point where I can waste $150 on a bad keyboard purchase.

  • hey there logitech!

does this keyboard has multiple LED color options and when does it arrive in Malaysia?

    thanks a bunch 🙂

  • I just fell in love with this beauty 🙂 I’m literally dreaming for a decent successor to one of the best Cherry’s I had once and as it appeared I’ve probably just found it.

Does it have Linux support for the multimedia buttons ?

    • So, the multimedia buttons are HID native buttons, so they should work in Linux. The only thing you wont be able to do with this keyboard in Linux is make custom assignments to the G-Keys, but the media keys use the USB standard commands (The media keys would even natively work on Macs as well)

  • When would this be available in Malaysia? I do not fancy the left macro key as well, I have a G510 whereby the left macro key is causing me to have loads of typo somehow.

    • I do not have a set date for Malaysia right now. If you wish, you can also use LGS software to fully disable any G-Keys.

  • Looks like a very nice keyboard. I’m especially impressed with the dedicated media keys. Up until now, the only other option has been Corsair’s keyboards, but I really don’t like linear switches.

I approve of the choice of backlighting also. It’s a gaming keyboard, so it has to be backlit (that’s not to say it doesn’t look nice anyway) but it’s not so outlandish as to dissuade, shall we say, the purist crowd.

I have two gripes with the keyboard, as it stands however:
    1) The wrist rest. One thing I loved about Corsair’s K90/K60 was the screw-in wrist rest design. Too often I’m typing, and I get extra clackity-clack noises from the wrist rest bouncing slightly (I’m a fairly heavy typist) and this seemed like a wonderful thing. Very much as “Why hasn’t anyone thought of this already?” sort of thing.
    2) The orange trim on the G-keys, and grey on WASD. It’s minor, yes, and possibly down to personal preference, but I’m not a fan. I’d much rather plain black, or if you had to add colour, maybe grey G-keys instead or something. You’ve kept it quite colour neutral up until the orange, it seems a shame. If I buy this (and right now that’s a real possibility, currently using a QPad MK-80 with Brown switches) I’d just pop the trim off and repaint it, but then of course I wouldn’t be eligible for that wonderful Logitech support that I’ve come to love (seriously, I’m very impressed with your warranty service, hats off).

Just my two cents. I’ll leave more detailed feedback if (read: when) I buy this. Hats off on a great keyboard. It’s about time Logitech produced a mechanical one!

    • Hi Richard, thank you for your honest feedback. We always appreciate hearing from our fans and take your thoughts into consideration. Once again, thank you and can’t wait to hear from you again.

  • Hi Logitech,
When are you making a line of 100% mechanical keyboards that are more like … “command centre keyboards” : lots of macro keys on the side. Something like your G15 v1.0 but 100% mech.

Here’s an inspiration. This one’s rubber dome unfortunately 😐
    Cyborg Strike 7
    http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/strike7.htm

I had waited for Corsair K90 pretty much the last five months of 2011, got disappointed that its a hybrid mech and dome keyboard.

  • It’s great to see Logitech entering the mechanical keyboard market! Expanding the last comment further, can we expect a greek layout as well? Would love to replace my DiNovo with this.

    • Hi Niki, unfortunately we do not have plans for a Greek specific layout at this moment. We thank you for your interest in the Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and encourage you to check back in the future for updates.

  • Windows 8 has been released, but there is still no LGS 8.40, when will it be released ?!

ALL G5x and G7x users on Windows 8 can’t properly use their mouse for gaming, since SetPoint 6.50 doesn’t include SetPointG anymore.

    • Hi there. The Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard will be available in Europe beginning November 2012. Please check back then and let us know if you have any questions.

  • Will/when this be available in US retail outlets (in-store, not ship to store) like Best Buy or Microcenter?

  • Hi there,
Just wondering if there have been any updates regarding the release of this keyboard in Australia? It would’ve been great if the release was prior to Christmas 🙁

  • Hello,

Nice keyboard! The cherry mx brown is a great idea! I love it… But I cannot live without a lcd gamepanel…
Do you think we’ll have a G910+ soon?
    “Unfortunately, we cannot … ”
    I know…
Well, how long have we waited since the last keyboard? That will maybe give us a idea…

Maybe you can think about more heavy stuff. More color for lights, a screen with some “touch” option? There is another keyboard I think about to change My G15. The very expensive one from the other brand. Unfortunatly it do not have cherry brown Mx, it’s not mechanical at all.
Maybe you will make the perfect keyboard. Can’t wait to see!

  • Hi,

Do you have a release date of the keyboard in Denmark? I saw that you have already answered this question on the 9th October, but I was hoping you had come out with a release date by now 🙂 . But If you don’t, do you then have a rough idea of when it will be out (maybe before the end of november? 😀 )

  • When is it going to be available in Malaysia? I need a new keyboard soon and I don’t know how long can I wait.

  • Two Questions:
    1. What date will the G710+ be launched in Australia? I’ve heard both January and March from Logitech Reps. Which one is it? Is it definitely January as previously mentioned?

    2. Is it possible to get the weight / dimensions of the package/box it comes in? Trying to calculate international shipping costs from a US Supplier and I’d like to know specs on the package/box it comes with if possible.

    Thanking you

    • Hi, We’re hoping to ship them there as soon as we can, but we don’t have any further update on the dates. Please continue to check back for availability updates. To answer your other questions about the dimensions of the box, it is roughly 230mm x 530 mm x 60mm and the keyboard weighs around 1.5Kg.

  • In a review of the G710+ on TechGage.com, the author points out that the keyboard he tested did not have o-ring dampers on two of the space bar’s, three, circle sockets. And, as a result, the space bar was noisier than other keys. By “borrowing” two additional dampers for the space bar from other, infrequently-used keys, he was able to reduce its noise level.

Does the G710+ normally have only one damper for its space bar? If so, are extra, o-ring dampers available for purchase?

I’m planning to buy a G710+ and would like for it to have a “quiet” space bar.

    Bill

  • Boy have I been waiting for a mechanical keyboard from you guys. I mean not that your previous products were bad, far from it (every peripheral I own is a logitech – keyboard, mouse, camera, headset, 2.1 thx speakers – love them), but this…this is truly a gem. And it looks so perfect, so clean, not too shiny and not packed with unnecesary stuff. And to use the mx brown keys – great decision, they’re the perfect combination for people like me who do a lot of typing for work and then relax in the evening with some gaming.

Can’t wait to get my hands on it (literally) when it comes to Slovenia (which will be soon if i read correctly =)).

    • We are glad to see how excited you are for this. It is expected to be available in Europe beginning in December 2012 so keep a look out for it!

  • This new keyboard is very awesome, this is good idea when gaming on turn all the led lights off just WDSA etc, i would love to get one and wondering when it would be my xmas pressie lol

  • This new keyboard looks awsome, does it work on Mac OSX ? I want to buy it but I want to be sure before.

  • I am glad to see it has finally arrived to the EU (Slovenia).

I am, however, quite shocked at the price. Why is there such a price difference between the one sold in USA and the one sold here in EU? The keyboard costs 149.99 USD in the States, which is about 115 EUR. Why then the price tag of 159 EUR (almost 210 USD) in the EU? That’s almost 40% more expensive!

    • We apologize for the delay in our response, Zeus. Please get in touch with our support team at +385-1 5535 050 to discuss this price difference. Let us know if you have any other questions.

  • As a fan of Logitech’s products, I’m very excited that you’re finally moving in on mechanical keyboards.
This is a feature that I have really been missing (hand problems make regular keyboards uncomfortable to say the least).
I have no use for macro keys and such a WIDE keyboard, but will definitely keep an eye on your products for, say, an “Illuminated”-type mechanical keyboard in cherry mx blue or brown!

  • Excuse me, but why did you not publish my comment (or answer my question) regarding the price difference in USA and EU? All I did was mention that the price is 40 % higher in EU than in USA. This information is freely available on the internet so I don’t see anything wrong with my comment pointing that out. I was simply asking for an explanation. Thank you.

  • Yet another mechanical keyboard with macro keys that’s not Mac compatible?

Razer is the only company with a product in this niche on the Mac (the Razer Black Widow).

Surely Logitech has the resources & expertise to support Mac OS X.

  • As a loyal Logitech customer I must say I’m very impressed by this product. It looks like it would serve my every need, and I definitely plan to get it. Though I wonder, when (if?) will it be available in Israel? I don’t need an exact date, a rough estimate (e.g Q1 2013) will suffice.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. (assuming you will)

  • I was wondering if you have any plans to do any other variants on this keyboard?

A premium ‘black’ edition with all black keys / chassis colour which included USB 3 pass through and supported headphone / microphone ports scheme would be amazing.

    • Hey there, Rob. Unfortunately we can’t comment on unannounced products or updates but please stay tuned by reading here and checking our website. We appreciate your thought on the keyboard variation and will pass it along to our team!

  • I have seen reviews about this keyboard and the showcase video from LinusTechTips and I have decided to get this keyboard. The main problem I have is that I cannot find the G710+ anywhere in Singapore and I would have no choice but to ship it from Canada/USA from a retailer from NCIX. I hope you can update me on this =)

  • Hi again Logitech, would you happen to have any updates on the release of the G710+ in Australia? Thanks
