New Harmony 600 and Harmony 650 Remotes Debut

Owning a remote that simplifies today’s complex home-entertainment systems is essential to performing even basic activities such as watching TV. Today, I am pleased to let you know that we have announced two new Logitech Harmony remotes that offer one-click activity buttons: the Logitech Harmony 600 and the Logitech Harmony 650.

With the Harmony 600 Remote, you’ll see the commands you need for the devices you’re using on the black & white screen while the Harmony 650 Remote features a color screen and lets you see icons for your favorite channels as well as the commands you need for the devices you’re using.

Both new Logitech Harmony remotes replace up to five other remotes, eliminating the complications and clutter that go with them. After completing the online setup, you just click what you want to do — such as “Watch TV” — and your Logitech Harmony remote automatically turns on the right devices and selects the right inputs.

The Logitech Harmony 600 Remote will be available for a suggested retail price of $79.99 (U.S.) and the Logitech Harmony 650 Remote for a suggested retail price of $99.99 (U.S). Both remotes are expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe in late March.

  • Will the 650 allow me to control Windows Media Centre on my Acer REVO R3610? I currently operate this with a dedicated Emprex 3009URF.

  • I’m interested in a 650 for replacing my RM-PG413 which is completely dead and hard to replace. This is for STR de897. I checked for compatibility and this receiver is in the Harmony list so it should be o.k.
My question here is: will this have all the functions for the receiver that the original remote had? This is because as I said the original remote is completely dead and into pieces, kids killed it! So I won’t be able to make it learn since there will be no original signal to copy.
Will it have all the functions for controlling the STR DE897 as the original Sony remote?
    Thanks.

    • Hello Gustavo,

I’ve just checked and we have the Sony STR-DE897 in our database so control won’t be an issue. Also, based on the user manual for the Sony I see that we have all the IR commands that the original remote has. The user manual shows 37 buttons available for the RM-PG413 and we have 48 IR codes available for that model.

The extra commands that usually come with the Harmony database usually contain discrete power & input commands which makes Activity based control easier to use.

      Best,
      Dane

  • echo Marks question, looks like it was taken off Canada’s site, will it be available in Canada?

  • @Tony
I’ve just received my Harmony 650 this morning. It works like a dream with my Acer R3610 running Windows 7. There is no IR receiver in the box so remember to get one of those to hook up to your R3610 (this applies to any Media Center PC). I’d recommend the Microsoft MCE ones but I have an old Cyberlink receiver that works just fine too.

My only niggle so far is that it controls fewer devices than the Harmony 525 it replaces. My old 525 remote controls 8 devices whereas the 650 only controls 5. TV + Sky box + Blu ray player + AV receiver + Acer R3610 = 5 devices already. I’ll have to find another way to control my camcorder in future :-(

    • Hi remotefix,

The Harmony 600 will be available at CompUSA stores and Target in early May.

  • We have had a Harmony 610 for about a year. It has never worked correctly when we try to go from the TV with antenna function, back to the watch T V function which would be HDMI. The thing just keeps cycling through all the watch TV modes and lands back on a channel 3. When we hit the help button and answer all the yes or no questions it still does not work. We have reprogrammed the thing may times and it has never worked right. I have to assume this would be a problem if we bought a 600 or 650. We don’t think it would be a good idea to buy another Harmony remote. Thanks Ron

  • Can it control channels from one device regardless of which device is active? Does it have “Watch Movie” as well as “Watch TV”? What about support for Marantz SR5004 A/V receiver? I only need it to work with two sources; Cable Box/DVR and BDP. I’d like for it to switch ON only the needed devices and turn off the unused source. And what about commands from A/V Receiver and BDP that aren’t typically noted with print on universal remotes? How can I program those to the buttons if I can’t remember all of them; Surround, Auto, Night, …etc. The 300 didn’t even have “DVR List” for what’s been recorded.

  • It’s not at local Target. In fact, they don’t carry Logitech Harmony Remotes. And CompUSA closed it’s stores in SoCal.

  • We bought a Hamony 650 at a respectable store locally and it had been programed by these folks and the gave an hour of instruction on how to use it and then it was alsta lavista baby. Don’t call us we’ll call you. NO INSTUCTION BOOK OF ANYKIND>

  • Is there an updated time when the 600 will be available at Target? The people there didn’t know anything about it. There’s no CompUSA near me.

  • I just purchased a Harmony 600 and have sort of figured the programming out. Unfortunately it supports amx of 5 devices. I thought I had 5 devices (TV, AV rec, DVD, and 2 satellite receivers (2 providers). My AV receiver is an Onkyo that has remote roome (zone?) feature. The Harmony treats my AMP as being 2 devices (Room1 and Room2). Is this correct? I have to use up 2 device codes/spaces for the one AV rec? Also… does the remote do all of the functions that an OEM RCU will do (Onkyo TX-DS550)…. such as zone inputs and volume. I can’t seem to figure it out but will certainly try in the next few days and will report back here. Any help on this would be appreciated. thx ;-)

  • Bought the 600 at Target last week and LOVE it. Though watch out for pricing since Best Buy just threw the 650 on sale for the same price ($79.99)

Currently use the 600 to control XBOX 360, Windows 7 Media Center (on Acer Revo), A/V receiver, TV, and room lighting (nice!). Note that this remote has a great LEARNING FEATURE. This means you can take *any command* from *any remote* and map it to your Harmony.

The only thing I haven’t figured out is NETFLIX. Would love to be able to press “Watch a Movie” and have it go straight to Netflix in Media Center. Can’t seem to make that work without a string of sequence commands or other hackery. Anyone out there figured that out?
