Update on Harmony Software for OS X Lion and OS X Snow Leopard (64-bit)

This is a quick note to our Harmony 900, 1000 and 1100 customers who also use 64-bit Mac OS X.

Our goal is to give our Harmony customers the highest quality experience; however we understand there have been issues with compatibility between your Macs and these three remotes. To resolve this, we have made developing a Native 64-bit Harmony Remote Client for OS X Lion and OS X Snow Leopard a priority for our Harmony team. We expect the solution to be available in the near future.

We will share an update on our progress as possible. In the meantime, please know that we have heard you and we are investing in the Mac experience for all future products. We’re grateful for your continued support.

  • When? You also have the same problem on your WebCam’s! Very frustrating!! WHen do you anticipate this being fixed?

  • i find it strange you would market something at best buy that does not work with macs. now i am out of 400.00 on something that doesn’t work. i will expect you to fix this soon, or i want my money back.

  • Mountain Lion’s release is just around the corner. Since you’re working on OS X Snow Leopard and Lion, you might as well ensure that it’s compatible with the upcoming Mac OS.

  • Please release the fix – I can’t use the H900 I just bought.
And fwiw, I don’t ALSO use a mac. I just don’t have any PC.

  • the time is running out.
tho i dont want you to rush it when i prefer a working solution instead of something quick just to make us happy i don’t want to wait until I’m so old my eyes is no good for watching tv anymore 🙂

and as a previous poster mentioned, for good sake make sure it works with mountain lion!
(I’m for one will be updating to mountain lion as soon as its released and I’m gonna cry rivers if i have to wait for it to be fixed for that also..)

and on a lighter note, thanks for an incredible piece of hardware (and software when it works)
you guys make our lives easier (at least us tech nerds)

  • Over the years , Logitech has built a hard-earned reputation for high quality ,sometimes , brilliant products. It was therefore extraordinary for me to find out since moving over to Mac products from Windows to discover an apparent disregard for proper support of the many Mac users of Logitech product.
I am retired , but it was always a tenet of success in business to care for your customers .So I was dumfounded to learn of L’s apparent readiness to sacrifice some of that hard earned prestige in the market place. Afterall , Apple will be around for a very long time- oh that we all could have THAT much cash in the bank!

Hopefully, therefore , L’s recent announcement represents an ongoing recognition and move in a different direction in it’s attention to needs of Mac owners using Logitech devices.

  • PS – I wrote the above using a Logitech Performance Mx mouse – oh what a delight to old crippled hands !!

  • OK so as an Apple developer member I upgraded my machine to the pre-release of Mountain Lion! AS Mountain Lion does not support the 32-bit kernel any more I am totally hosed in being able to update my Harmony 1100. Most expensive paper weight I’ve ever bought! Come on Logitech take the lead outta your ass and release the 64-bit compatible software asap and preferably before the end of March 2012!!!!!!!!

  • Incredible… not working on Lion… incredible… NO COMMENTS! Very disappointed with Logitech. My Harmony 1100 is quite expensive and I think the software developers should be there ready… and it is not this way, AGAIN. No updates since february. We are near APRIL… NO COMMENTS…

  • Daniel, sí que funciona pero de momento sólo bajo cualquier sistema MAC en 32 bits o con arranque en 32 bits
    —-
Daniel, it works but for now only in any 32-bit MAC system or 64-bit MAC booted under 32 bit.

  • Please withdraw my previous comment , which upon reflection may appear to some to be harsh, That was not the intention . I am glad that you are doing something positive about all us Mac users. Thank you- I shall await your announcement

  • I just purchased a Harmony 900 and after hours of unsuccessfully trying to Setup the unit using my MacPro, I finally found this Blog thread.

Am I to understand that the Harmony 900 that I was heavily marketed by Best Buy is completely incompatible with my Mac so I can’t even do a basic Setup until this “new” software is released by Logitech?

It is hard to believe that a computer hardware company can’t do a better job than this NONSUPPORT!

  • Please give me (logiciel) driver quickcam.chat

    Thank You

  • When will you be done? I can’t believe I spent so much money on this POS controller and I can’t even get it to sync yet.

  • Logitech product quality and support seems to have deteriorated. I bought the latest keyboard and mouse – it won’t work properly – the software (even after downloading the latest) does not work – basic things like tabs have disappeared and logitech cannot or will not fix this.

It is hard to believe that a computer hardware company can’t do a better job than this NONSUPPORT!

  • Come on Logitech! OSX Lion has been out for 9 – 10 months now and you are still trying to make your software compatible with it? I have just purchased new AV equipment and my current Logitech Harmony 720 is completely useless as I can’t update it with my new gear.

Fix it quick, please. This is so frustrating. Even your link to the 7.8.0 beta software doesn’t work! Heads should roll for this.

  • Seems like Logitech can’t walk and chew gum at the same time….
Moving your head quarters is really taking a toll on software development, and customer service. Hurry up with the Harmony OS Lion update

  • you do realice that Mountain Lion is coming this summer. so maybe you should consider beeing ready for that also! Don’t keep falling behind!

  • Do not be in too much of a hurry, Windows 7 does not work either. I am on my second 900 Harmony Remote and the second one is worst than the first. Their accounts do not recognize me anylonger telling me it is an invalide email address but they keep emailing me correspondences offering me a 50% discount to PURCHASE ANOTHER REMOTE!

I wasted 400 dollars of hard earned money!

the thing turns white screen and goes dead… I am lucky if I do get it work, and when it does it is good for three or four clicks, then it reboots, and goes dead…again…

And we bought a second battery hoping that was it, but that was a wasted $30+ throwing good money after bad money… ugh.

  • The software will not update, yet it tells me I have an outdated version. I am running 7.7.0 and they stated I should upgrade to 7.7.3.

I must connect my remote to upgrade the software, but the remote will not be recognized by my computer with Windows 7 or my backup computer with Windows XP. ugh…

    SAVE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE

  • Downloaded the ‘update’ to 7.8.0 and it still does not connect to my H900. I tried running OSX 10.7.3 in 64 and 32 bit mode and neither work. I have owned and loved this remote but I have purchased new hardware and I cannot add it to the remote.

    Any fix for this?

    • Hello Michael, can you send us your email address? We’ll have someone from Customer Care look into this and respond to you through email in order to ensure all of your needs are addressed ASAP. Thanks!

  • SUCH A DISASTER.
I BOUGHT HARMONY 1000 A COUPLE A YEAR AGO, USED (TRIED) FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, PUT IT BACK ON BOX AND FORGOT ABOUT IT.
NOW YEARS LATER, I WANTED TO GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY, AND WHAT I DISCOVER? INCOMPATIBLE WITH MAC OS LION, AGAIN!
    FORGET ABOUT LOGITECH

    • Hi Mario,
Could you please let us know what issues you are having and what equipment you are using the Harmony 900 with? If you haven’t already we can open a customer service for you.

  • For the first time since I bought the harmony one, I was actually able to update the devices. Kudos on getting software semi-operational on a Mac.

Big problem though, I’ve put in 2 second delays between my PVR, my Bose V20 and my TV and it’s not working on my remote…therefore not giving my Bose enough time to properly convert the signals.

Your software is still buggy, and my delays are not making it to the remote (there is absolutely no delay between when the devices turn on). Not to mention that it instantly freezes up whenever I click on troubleshooting.

    • Hi Patrick,

We will definitely be looking into this issue for you. Would you like us to open up a customer service case for you?

  • Well here we go again. Updated to 10.7.4 and no usb connection again. Uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, did a war dance, buried a potato midnight on a full moon, all the usual “troubleshooting” tips. Once again, can’t use the most expensive remote in human history. WHY oh why can’t you guys write software for any platform other than windows?

    • Hi William,

We apologize for the inconvenience. If you haven’t already we could open a case with customer support to get the issue worked out for you.

  • I have Lion 10.7.4 and a Harmony 1100. Obviously it didn’t work out of the box. After a quick google search I was surprised to see for how many years it hasn’t really worked properly. I follow your advice and download the latest software.. and it still doesn’t work….

How are you guys still in business? Can I suggest that you buy your developers a mac to test this hopeless enterprise with..

    • Hi Tom,

We apologize for the inconvenience. Could you please send us your customer service incident number and we will place you in contact with a customer service representative. If you have not opened up a case at this time please forward us an email address we could contact you at.

  • Why do you want all those who have the same problem to open a case when you obviously do not have any solution to the problem? You’ve sold thousands of remote controls that are not compatible with mac and I think this is bordering on fraud! There was no information on this when I bought the remote. Just solve the problem! How hard can it be …

    • Hi Rune,

We are working hard to fix the issues you have mentioned. We open up customer care cases for all our customers to make sure all their needs are serviced. We apologize for your less than favorable experience with one of our products.
