Logitech Updates Harmony Link App to Customize Your Experience on iPhone and Android Phones

Logitech has listened to your feedback and updated the iPhone® and Android™ versions of the Logitech Harmony Link App!

If you’re using the Logitech Harmony Link App to turn your smartphone into a full-featured remote, you might think having one-touch control of your entertainment system is convenient enough. But your experience is about to get even better. With this update it’s now easier to customize the controls on your iPhone and Android phone activity screens – and that’s just one of the capabilities we’re excited to introduce.

It’s your screen, your way. You’ll also be able to add or move your favorite command buttons to any place on the screen, and delete existing command buttons you don’t use. Plus, you can access Power On/Off features directly from your control screens.

With improved Harmony Link settings options on your smartphone, you’ll be able to check the current release number as well as your last date of sync with MyHarmony.com. And if you don’t like the way you positioned your command buttons, you quickly can reset them to the initial default layouts.
This update doesn’t affect the iPad version of Harmony Link – but updates for your iPad will be coming soon. Stay tuned for future updates from us, and in the comments below, let us know what else you’d like to see with the Harmony Link.

  • seriously what is with your dev team… release the source so we can make the Link useful and more functional… most people that I have talked to including myself dont use a phone to control media related equipment in their home, they use a tablet and more so now an Android Tablet… why you guys dont support android tablets I will never know, pretty bonehead movie to begin with… so please start working on a tablet app for android so that I can use this $100 paper weight with my tablets ~_~

  • Since my last comment appears to have been deleted…. I will just say this…

Still no Android Tablet support ~_~

  • Thank you it has made it much more useable when can we expect this on the iPad and when can we expect a android tablet app. Those are the next two most talked about additions in your forum. To any one else please go to Logitech forums and voice you opinion in the suggestions thread that I started. Also I have posted a link to submit your feedback directly to Logitech.

  • I second the request made previously. I hope that your Android developers are diligently working on an Android Tablet version. Thanks for the 1.3 update. Looking forward to the next one.

  • Great idea but I already have a Harmony One and Logitech apparently don’t allow me to buy both because.
    1) My MyHarmony.com account will only work with ONE logitech device and since MyHarmony.com is also uniquely associated with my singlular email I can’t even have two accounts if I wanted to bother with that (+I would have to setup all by devices twice if I got another email and registered two MyHarmoney accounts)
    2) Harmony One and the Link App won’t co-operate (exhange device state) so one can’t switch forth and back between using the two devices depending on which one is nearest at the time. For devices where Harmony needs to know if a device is ON or OFF this will cause problems.
Really, really stange that Logitech makes it so hard for your (repeat) customers!

  • Same here:
    – When is it released in Europe?
    – With Android tablet support it is an immediate buy for me!

  • I’m just curious when you guys will support Ice Cream Sandwhich (Android 4.0)? When you visit the Harmony Link App in the Android Market, it says the app is not compatible. However, I side-loaded the Harmony Link App and it works perfectly fine on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus with 4.0.2. So what the heck is the deal?

This whole Harmony Link thing has been mildly disappointing to say the least.

  • Looking forward to iPad customization. And echo the sentiments that this should be open-sourced – it’s OK to at least act like you are part of the 21st century. Community & social driven change is not only good for us, but for you as a company.

  • +1 on the Android Tablet Support. I use that 100% of the time when in front of the tube. (or led, now I guess) I would think that with the vast assortment of tablets available now this would seem to be a logical step nearing release soon.

Additionally, I too have had to register for 2 Harmony accounts since I have two remotes. I would REALLY hate it even more than I already do to have to add another account to operate my systems with another device/remote.

Thanks for the work that you’ve already done guys! I love my Logitech products. I appreciate your effort.

  • +1 on the android tablet support for the Harmony Link. I have Xoom and Bionic. I cant download harmony app on neither device. Long time supporter and owner of logitech devices. This is my first ever disappointment with any of my logitech devices. I will be patient and continue appreciating all of logitechs innovations and devices. Just PLEASE give us android users something to appreciate. Apple sucks anyways. lol

  • Is there a possibility that the ‘Harmony Link’ will be available in the Netherlands and/or Belgium? I’ve asked Logitech in both countries, but they can’t give any answer!

  • Works great in Belgium, but off course no sync with local tv provider. Some trouble finding right name for telenet set top box but it works at last.
Icon customisation on iPad would be great, it works on iPod touch perfectly.
Sad it wasn’t possible to synchronise my harmony one settings.
Keep working but already very neat.

  • Some people have expressed discomfort with not having physical buttons to control channel up/down or volume up/down. Could the Apple or Android hardware volume buttons be re-purposed during app use to be selected to control such functions?

  • will there be support for android tablets any time soon? tried the Griffin GC30004 Beacon but it only supports android 2.3.3 and up im using 2.2.2 on all my devices.

  • I have multiple systems that I would like to use simultaneously. Unfortunately that is not possible since all my ios devices sync to the current activity. On top of that it shuts off the previously selected activity before starting the next.

Not sure of the specifics of the application to determine best recourse, but I would suggest the following
    1. Remove the power off action from all activities when switching, or create an option to turn that action off when being switched to/from.
    2. Change the link to respond to the activity on the device verses linking all devices to the activity currently set on the link itself.

  • I would like to use 2 Links ( or more ) for 2 zone applications from one controller. Anything like this on the way??

  • When will the iPad version be ported over to Android tablets? This should be the number 1 thing that any and every developer at logitech is immediately working on a perfecting 🙂

Seriously though – even from reading these comments – the demand for an Android Tablet version is obviously huge. Could anyone from Logitech even confirm if this is being worked on, so I know if I should return my Harmony Link in the 30days that I have to return it?

Thanks for your understanding. Your loyal customers await…

  • I just want to pile on here,

First, the Harmony Link concept is fantastic, there is so much more you guys can do with this. I have two of them and my wife loves it. That said, we use our iPads much more than iPhone for control, so please get the customization features over to the iPad fast. I also agree that android tablets are going to take off fast so I would suggest you get that going soon too.

I also hate the fact that I have to have two email accounts, one for each link. It is not a show stopper but that is a pain. Each time I go to a different room with my one iPad I need to rel-ogin in on the other account. Seems a bit clunky to me.

I also need to be able to add commands to the beginning and end of an activity. Common thing is for me to be able to force my Denon into 5 Ch mode after I setup listen to music.

  • I love what you guys have done with the UI for Android phones, but I, like some of the other posters would really like to see support for tablets in the near future. One of the reasons I purchased a tablet was to use with the harmony link. I also do not understand why in the interim the phone version can’t just be upscaled to work on a tablet. I’d love to see an optimized version like there is for the iPad, but in the meantime, ANYTHING would be better than NOTHING.

Also, Jefferey’s comment about switching activities without shutting down everything else would be a plus.
    Thanks

  • update:
Actually, the phone version does work with tablets, or at least with the Asus Transformer. I found .apk file someone posted online (Version 1.3 I believe), and it is fully functional. Being as the app already works with a tablet, why does Logitech try so hard to get us not to use it?

  • Unable to install the Harmony Link software on my ASUS Transformer TF101. Why?

It advertises that it can?? Good thing I tried installing it before I bought your product. Logitech just lost a sale and customer.

  • @Dave you can install harmony link on the transformer, you will have to Google search for harmonylink.apk and theres a guy in a forum who has posted a way to download it. you then have to allow apps from unknown sources on your transformer, put the .apk file on it (with a flash drive or sd card, and install it.

  • +1 on the android tablet support. It is pretty frustrating trying to utilize all the components I have in my system on a small little phone screen. I have a few android tablets and could really utilize the larger screen.

  • Would it be possible to add a power on time delay setting for devices in an activity? This would help solve issues i am currently having

  • I wholeheartedly agree with John’s suggestions.

Please add the ability to power off all devices after ## minutes!

  • I purchased the Harmony Link the first day it launched (since my Harmony 1100 decided to conveniently stop working only 2 weeks prior). The Harmony Link worked perfect on my OG Motorola Droid…and continued to work perfectly when I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE… UNTIL I moved and tried to reconfigure my setup… I was unable to re-sync; So I uninstalled the Harmony Link app from my GNexus and to my dismay (utter infuriating frustration); the Harmony Link app is no longer compatible with Android 4.0… so I can’t redownload… and I am outside of my 30 day return policy/warranty. PLEASE TELL LOGITECH IS RELEASING AN ANDROID 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwhich) HARMONY LINK APPLICATION SOON! (I expect an update within 30days).
Your’s truly – Loyal, yet abused Logitech Customer.

  • Yeah, a Windows Phone release would be nice – Although my guess is we won’t see anything until Win 8/Win Phone 8 arrive.

But please consider it and you’ll have another sale (or at least make the API available so other people could build it).

    • Harmony Link support for Android tablets is something we are looking into for the future, but we currently can not comment on future product updates at the time.

  • This product needs to be able to support more than 8 devices

You need to be able to have more than one harmony link on a single network to allow for control of multiple zones.
