We are honored to showcase some touching music this month in our Ultimate Ears Artists to Watch program starting with the late and great John Martyn. His raw and haunting posthumous album was compiled and released with love by longtime friend and Grammy Winning producer Jim Tullio.
John Martyn was a cult-status musician’s musician. He was admired by everyone from Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page to Lee “Scratch” Perry and Bob Marley. Martyn’s groundbreaking guitar technique, tape delay, and recording approaches inspired Brian Eno’s ambient sound and The Edge’s shimmering, delay-drenched strings. He was lionized by Bristol trip-hoppers and chill-out DJs.
