You may have seen the news today from Google IO that the company released a software update, Android (Honeycomb) 3.1, which brings USB support for things like gamepads, mice, and keyboards to Android users. We’re really excited about this here at Logitech, and you should be too.
Recent research shows that people use their tablets mainly to play games, search for information, and emailing. Android 3.1’s new functionality will make it easier for you to navigate and enjoy all of what your tablet offers: you can use a gamepad while you’re playing a game, or a keyboard to write your e-mails – the choice is yours. The capabilities will be available to everyone using an Android tablet running the Honeycomb 3.1 platform.
Also included in this update is the ability to use a Bluetooth mouse across Honeycomb tablets running 3.1. You’ll be able to use a mouse while you’re playing games or checking your e-mail as long as the mouse connects to the device using Bluetooth.
At Logitech, our goal is to create products that let you get the most out of your tablet no matter where you’re using it, or what you’re using it to do. To this end, over the coming weeks and months you can expect to see a range of new Logitech products that take advantage of this new functionality to help you do just that. We’re excited about what we have in store for you, so stay tuned!
