Use Your Squeezebox to Help Napster Test Its Newest Design

As a Squeezebox owner you already know that with Napster, you can enjoy unlimited access to more than 8 million songs on your Squeezebox. It’s a great way to discover and enjoy your favorite music. Napster is now working on ways to improve your listening experience, and you can give us a hand.

Here’s what the Napster team wanted me to share with Squeezebox owners:

Check out the latest Napster design, currently open for beta testing in order to get as much additional feedback as possible. Your comments will help us make the new design even better. Here are a couple of major areas we have been working on:

Search
We’ve heard that you want to find artists, albums, and songs as fast as possible. Napster’s improved search now includes auto-suggest results that appear as you type. When you see what you’re looking for, one click takes you there. You can even play an Automix directly from the results.

Player
The new Napster has an embedded player that stays front-and-center no matter where you click on the site. When you add music to the player, the new pop-up player queue makes it all easier to see and manage. Drag and drop songs, make playlists, and even buy music right from the queue.

Again, once you’ve taken the new Napster beta for a spin, please send us feedback. Let us know what you think so we can make Napster the best it can be.

A wide range of reviews came in last week from the Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse to the Logitech Squeezebox Radio.

Digital Trends gave our G500 Gaming Mouse an 8/10 and said they prefer it to our G9x Laser Mouse because it “delivers nearly all the same features, and it’s a better fit for our hands.” The Future of Things reviewed out Darkfield Technology, which allows you to use your mouse virtually anywhere you want — including clear glass. This technology is included in a handful of our mice, including the Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX, which Everything USB reviewed and said “the overall product execution leaves little to be desired.”

Also, CNET UK tried out the Logitech Squeezebox Radio and gave it a 9.1/10 and said it’s “one of the best Internet-radio streamers currently on the market.”

Did you know that you can add a personal slide show to your life’s soundtrack by installing Flickr on your Squeezebox Radio, Squeezebox Touch (available in December) or Squeezebox Duet? With the new Flickr app, you can view photos of family and friends or change things up by accessing Flickr’s vast online gallery for an always revolving screen saver. Simply go to the ‘App Gallery’, select ‘Photo Services’ and install Flickr.

Believe it or not, the holidays are coming up. I4U published their Holiday Gift Guide 2009, which included the Logitech Harmony 700 Remote and Logitech Squeezebox Radio. The Squeezebox Radio also got some coverage last week from Big Picture Big Sound and PC Magazine, who say the it “offers all the Wi-Fi-music-streaming splendor of other Squeezebox products in a compact, all-in-one solution for your nightstand.”

Also, in case you missed it last week, we announced our Logitech Harmony IR Extender System, which allows anyone with an existing IR-only remote operate A/V devices hidden inside a cabinet.

Fans of the Squeezebox and Queen were excited by our announcement last week! We’re offering the new Queen Absolute Greatest album exclusively on the new Logitech Squeezebox Radio before the album even hits shelves in November. This is the first time in record-label history anyone has released an album this way and — to quote Queen (and ZDNet’s response to our announcement!) — we ask, is this “the real life, or if it’s just fantasy?” In SlashGear’s coverage, they also mention that on top of the early access to the album, you’ll also enjoy “a series of unique band photos and track-by-track audio commentary recorded by the band.”
