Helpful Hints to Spring Clean Your Home-Entertainment System

Spring is finally here! In the Northern Hemisphere, this change in season means nicer weather, nature in full bloom and more hours of sunlight. However, this also means that many of you will set aside time for spring cleaning tasks all around the house.

At Logitech, we believe the seasonal tradition of spring cleaning should have a focus on the home-entertainment system because you’ve probably spent a pretty penny on your valuable devices. We know that spring cleaning can be daunting, so we’ve come up with a few simple, yet effective ideas to help tidy up your system this season.

  • Simplify and reduce clutter in your home-entertainment system by downsizing to just one powerful remote. Logitech recently announced the Logitech Harmony Ultimate and Logitech Harmony Smart Control, two new universal remote controls that feature Logitech’s Harmony Hub and Harmony Smartphone App to give you control, even with closed cabinets and from your smartphone. Now you can keep your entertainment devices hidden behind closed doors, and only worry about one remote (not five) sitting on your coffee table.
  • To help prevent overheating of your favorite home theater equipment, keep dust from accumulating by dusting with something as simple as a feather duster or a dust rag. This simple technique will keep equipment clean and won’t dislodge wires or trip buttons.
  • While dusting your home theater equipment, you might notice that your cords and cables are out of control, making your home-entertainment system look like a busy server room. If you fall in that category, consider purchasing cable twisters, so your cords and cables are neatly out of sight.
  • Cleaning screens seems like an easy task, but the number one rule is “don’t use glass cleaner.” Instead, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth, which will prevent scratching. And, many TVs will ship with a soft cloth specifically for the screen.

Those are just a few of our suggestions for cleaning your home-entertainment system. Now it’s your turn! Let us know your favorite spring cleaning tricks in the comments below.
