Logitech Welcomes Windows 8

As you may know, Microsoft officially launched its new Windows 8 operating system, and we’re excited. It’s the first major interface change for Windows in 17 years, bringing people a whole new – and more intuitive – way to navigate their content with applications and touch gestures.

As a company, Logitech believes touch is a great enabling technology, but we also believe people will want mice and pointing devices that mimic the key touch-screen gestures of Windows 8 – straight from their desk or tabletop. Thus, we have recently introduced three new touch-based control devices designed specifically for the new operating system: the Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400, Logitech Touch Mouse T620 and Logitech Rechargeable Touchpad T650.

Over the past few years, we have focused our resources on touch-based navigation and now consider it a core competency. These new pointing devices deliver the easiest and most natural navigation of the new interface with embedded shortcuts that help you easily move between the old desktop and the new Windows 8 Start Screen. We’ve emulated the touch screen, so you can actually perform edge swipe gestures, pinch-to-zoom and other intuitive functions directly from your pointing device.

Beyond its touch-based navigation, Windows 8 will bring new experiences across devices, including PCs, tablets and smartphones, presenting an even greater opportunity for Logitech. We’re continuing to design keyboards that meet the needs of different typing preferences and styles. Just this month, we announced the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810, a new product with Logitech easy-switch with Bluetooth technology that lets you pair with three different devices at once, no matter the platform, and quickly switch among them with the touch of a button.

All told, Windows 8 presents an exciting time for the consumer electronics industry and for consumers alike. We’re excited to be a familiar partner to users during this time and we look forward to watching Windows 8 hit the market.

Tell us in the comments below; are you excited for Windows 8?

  • Very excited about Windows 8 but since upgrading my Logitech Bluetooth M555b mouse regularly stops working and later starts up again. Batteries are OK so it must be either a Windows problem or a Logitech one. Are new drivers required?

  • I was so excited about Windows 8 I got it the moment it became available for download from Microsoft. Though now my Logitech hardware isn’t working with it. Limited mouse support, no gamepad support. Hard to want new Logitech stuff when old Logitech stuff isn’t working anymore.

    • We apologize for any inconvenience. We invite you to get in touch with our Support Team by calling 1 646-454-3200 and speaking with a representative about your issue. Their hours of operation are from Monday – Friday: 6am – 6pm PST and Saturday – Sunday: 7am – 5pm PST. Thank you.
