Welcoming Windows 8 and Microsoft Surface

The tech world is buzzing about Windows® 8 and the Microsoft® Surface announcement this week, and for good reason. We believe Microsoft’s Windows 8 brings new experiences in usability and interaction across the PC, phone and tablet, just as Apple has provided a transformative experience across the Mac®, iPhone® and iPad®. With the announcement of Microsoft Surface, it is clear that both companies are redefining the computing experience, which we believe is good for consumers and can reinvigorate the PC industry.

With Surface, Microsoft is validating Logitech’s belief that an external keyboard can be central to the tablet experience, as demonstrated by the popularity of our tablet keyboard cases, especially the Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for the iPad. In addition to offering a Bluetooth connection for attaching peripherals, Surface also includes a USB port, which allows consumers to attach a separate navigation device, which is another opportunity for Logitech.

With Windows 8 and Surface, Microsoft is ushering in a new era of the PC, and we believe both consumers and the industry will benefit, especially as other PC manufacturers introduce their designs. For Logitech in particular, we see new opportunities to innovate with Bluetooth and USB devices that enhance consumers’ experiences with their laptop or tablet.

What are you looking for out of your tablet experience, especially now that Surface is on the horizon? Share your views in the comments below.

  • One of the things I love is that on the intel base tablet I can use any peripheral out of the box because it is full blown windows that’s running.
I think Microsoft’s announcement and ongoing strategy reflects the fact that computing is and will be done on mobile devices and software.

I hope for great and new accessories from Logitech to enhance the mobile computing experience. (with new and innovative form factors)

A gaming mouse that is mobile like the VX?
I love the G930 but it is not very portable for use with the Surface, a similar but portable experience would be nice. (a beefed up, wireless G330?)

Also the surface only has 1 usb port, so a “true” unifying connector or other technologies would be welcome. (BT 4.0 has promises of added power savings)

  • 1- BTooth Couch mouse 515 work on bed, couch
2- Gamepad works also on Ultrabooks & Tablets & Smartphone
    3- BT4 Windows 8 Keyboard that switch between s.phone, tablet & PC like K760
4-a Music accessories ecosystem of Logitech/UE Headsets, Earphones, BT4 Speakers & PC speakers with duel wired/wireless feature
5-Windows 8/Skype accessories range for Ultrabooks, Tablets, PC
7-A Proper full media/communication Keyboard/mouse combo that has hybird tablet/pc functionality

  • Mouse drivers that support gestures to control Windows 8 gestures. (ig Swipe left, get charm menu. Swipe right, get app list. Swipe down, get context menu.)

  • Mouse drivers that work with MicroGear scroll wheels. Using SetPoint on Windows 8 (mostly Metro-style apps, but also desktop IE10) causes fast scrolling to be laggy, i.e. it will continue to scroll even when you stop the wheel. This doesn’t happen with the standard MS drivers.

  • I am definitely not a high tech person.
However, I would like to see/have a Tablet similar to the iPad that has a phone, Windows 8, mouse (could be built into a new Logitech Keyboard/case similar to laptops), or plug into the tablet.
in short, I want a tablet to do what a desk top can do, only faster, smoother, WITH A PHONE.
I bought my wife an iPad and the Logitech Keyboard Case and it is great.
