  • Is this available now retail? I have not been able to locate it and the logitech website only has a Pre-Order option available.

  • I don’t need any new Logitech webcams. I currently own at least three that I can see in front of me and probably have a few more buried in the back. What I need is for you to release Windows 7 compatible drivers for these cams. If I am forced to buy a new cams for my three new Windows 7 machines, I assure you they will not be from you. If you can make my old ones work on some of the machines, I might be tempted to upgrade ONE of them.

    • Hello Steve,
I’m not sure which model webcams you have but I can tell you that all of our UVC webcams work with Windows 7. Some of the really old UVC webcams do not have a new driver, but they do not need one – the devices are plug and play with that OS and UVC. Most of our devices that are 4+ years older, are not UVC, as the technology did not exist back then.

You may want to check our support site to download updated webcam drivers here.

      I hope this helps.

  • Sounds like a wonderful product, I got to this page as I was specifically looking for a webcam that would allow HD video calls both on Facetime and Skype (which are the two applications I use to chat with friends and family)

Sorry if this is not the right place for this question (if so please let me know where I can find that information), but I’d like to clarify the following:

    – On the product page (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/webcams/devices/hd-webcam-c615), in the features section, there’s a note at the bottom regarding the HD 720p video calls feature stating “* For Mac® computers, HD video calling is currently available on Logitech Vid™ HD and FaceTime HD. For HD video calling support with other video-calling applications, please check their website for availability and support information.”

    – This blog states “The ability to make HD 720p video calls on Skype, FaceTime for Mac, our own Logitech Vid™ HD and other major video calling services”

=> can Skype video calls be made in HD or not with this camera?

On a related note, does the C910 product have the same level of Mac support and does it support HD video calls for Skype and Facetime?

    Thanks a bunch!

    • Here is a helpful snap shot. Essentially a clients performance, like Skype, on a Mac is different than PC. This matrix below holds true for all of our HD webcams, Webcam C270 up through C910.

      Client PC Mac
      Skype 720p VGA
      Windows Live 720p VGA
      Vid HD 720p 720p
      Facetime N/A 720p
      Google video VGA VGA
      Yahoo! VGA VGA

  • Thanks a lot Nick, that answers my question perfectly (and beyond).

Are there any plans to add 720p support to Skype on Mac? From my perspective (and I’m sure for a lot of other people too) that would be the killer feature to “void the gap”.

Laslty, are there any major differences between this product (the C615) and the C910, or is the C615 basically a C910 that can rotate (with a smaller resolution for pictures at 8 megapixel vs. 10).

Thanks again for the very helpful information!

    • Bert,
We completely agree that 720p video calling support on the MAC is lagging behind PC penetration. We continue to work with Skype on the MAC platform improvements, but I cannot speak to any target release date.

The C910 has a 5 MP sensor, while the C615 has a 2.1 MP sensor. The C910 also boasts Carl Zeiss optics and a wider angle field of view. End of the day the C910 will have superior performance in low light and the dual stereo microphones will provide a richer audio experience than the C615. But both are great webcams.
Depending on how you intend to use your webcam, the 360 degree rotation and tripod ready clip of the C615 provides great flexibility in how you capture and connect.

Good luck ! Take care Nick

  • Hey Nick,

Would it be possible to mix the C910 and C615 into 1 webcam for the next model? I know how good the Carl Zeiss lenses are, but I’m hesitating on getting the C910 because it can’t swivel 360 degrees like the C615 can. On the other hand, the C615 doesn’t have the good optics the C910 has–so it leaves me with: why not both? Even better would be a model that can pivot/rotate. Just a thought. =)

    • Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for your feedback. While I can’t talk about future product plans we always appreciated input!

  • The video from the camera looks nice but is way overexposed. How do you adjust for brightness/exposure?

  • Hi Nick, i’m having difficulty deciding between the C910 & C615. Reason being is when i compare the two webcam’s side by side on Logitech’s website it seems that the C615 is missing about roughly 80% of the features that the C910 has. But than again the C615 is newer, and putting aside the whole swivel, tripod, and 360 degree turn on the C615 the C910 seems allot more better so i’m a little confused!?!? Which one would you choose and why Nick? Thank You! 🙂

  • I am just interested in the best HD video calling on IM. Does the sensor size or the difference in optics between the C615 and C910 really make a difference. I can see where it would in photos or video recording, but since it is only 720P in video calling, can you see a difference??

    • Hi Keny —

The sensor size is one of the most important parts of making a video device great. The size of the sensor directly affects how much light enters the webcam, and the video it captures.
This is especially true when you are inside and the lighting might not be the brightest – what we consider to be bright lighting, might not be what the webcam considers bright !
The image quality is affected at all resolutions by the size of the sensor too. So even at small VGA resolutions, there is a difference. Now at those small sizes you have to have a trained eye to tell the difference, but the bigger the image, the more noticeable the quality is. If you have seen, you might have noticed that 1080p DVDs and 1080p BluRays look different, this is the same idea. So I would say the sensor size is most important when using your webcam for 720p or 1080p video, not just for low light, but for all light.
While the C615 is a 2.1 MP sensor, the C910 has a 5 MP sensor, so the 910 will perform better. And also the C910 has a Carl Zeiss lens, so the C910 has been certified through the strictest video specifications in the industry (just like NASA’s telescopes). Both are great webcams, but the C910 does have some advantages.

  • will this camera work with online live shows such as blogtv or ustream using a mac computer? i have a macbook pro with 10.5.8 os i know it has the camera built-in but i want an external camera because i use an external monitor and use the laptop as a desktop when i am at home.

    thanks 🙂

    • Hi Kari —

This webcam is UVC, which means its plug and play compatible with MAC OS. No SW or installation required ! We consistently stay in touch with Ustream, and work great with their service.
I am not very familiar with blogtv honestly, I was unable to get either my Logitech webcam or embedded to work properly. However perhaps its just my computer, I looked at their site and requirements and do not see a reason why any external webcam would not work.

      Good Luck !

  • I want a wireless webam to use on a two month trip to Europe in September to use in an RV to take ravel videos. What has logitech have?

  • Hi

Does this webcam allow timer based snapshots? I read that some of your models (C510) had that feature
