Sneak Peek of HD Video Calling in the Living Room with Logitech TV Cam for Google TV

In case you’re wondering what video calling on your TV will really be like, we thought we’d give you a little preview. By now you’ve already heard all about the products that we announced earlier this month, including Logitech Revue with Google TV and the Logitech TV Cam accessory, so this time we want to tell you, or rather show you, more about the experience of keeping in touch with loved ones.

This video is about people connecting, which is exactly what the Logitech TV Cam and Vid HD are all about:

And we’re not the only ones excited about video calling. Almost a fifth of American adults have made a video call, according to survey results released by Pew Research last week. That’s no surprise considering that approximately 50 percent of grandparents live over 200 miles away from their grandchildren, according to the AARP (PDF). Long distance relationships are also on the rise, according to a recent USA Today article citing a recent study in the journal Communication Research, which “finds that as many as half of college students are in long-distance relationships, and up to 75% will be at some point.”

So to all those of you who are separated from your loved ones – whether your child, grandchild, sibling, or soul mate – we hope you’ll be as excited about video calling on your TV as we are. And remember, with the pre-installed Vid app on Logitech Revue with Google TV, you can make HD video calls TV to TV, and TV to PC/Mac (or vice versa) because Vid is free for anyone – download it here for your PC or Mac and get ready to see your loved ones in HD.
