Logitech is always looking to bring new design, features and functionality to our line of award-winning iPod speakers. Today, we are pleased to announce two new iPod speaker models that do just that – the Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i and the Logitech Portable Speaker S125i.
First up is the Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i. This product was developed to solve a problem we have all faced – forgetting to recharge! Because you don’t always have time to recharge your iPod or iPhone at home, and it is inconvenient to carry your charger with you, the Rechargeable Speaker S315i gives you a full day’s worth of music on a single charge and can recharge your iPod or iPhone when docked in the speakers. Very confusing press release. What exactly is rechargeable — the speaker unit or the iPhone via the speaker, or both? And how does the speaker get recharged — can you connect it to your laptop for recharging via USB or do you still have to lug around an AC adapter (thus negating the benefit of rechargeability)?

I apologize for the confusion. The Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i speaker system has a built-in battery that is rechargeable. When plugged into a wall with the included AC adaptor, the speakers will recharge. And when and iPod or iPhone is docked, the speakers also have the capability to recharge the device.

Hey Doug I purchased the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 and love it but it is ratty and has lost its leg and dock capability and the aux is port is on its way to the garbage…
should I get this new speaker for travel

I\’m sorry to hear about the issue you have had with the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2. There is a 2-year limited hardware warrantly so you may want to check with our customer support team if you fit that time frame. In terms of how the new Rechargeable Speaker S315i stacks up to the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2, the new S315i offers longer battery life with the included rechargeable battery that we have done before. We have also included a power-saving moce with the Rechargeable Speakers S315i. However, the S315i do not have several features that the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 has (the S315i does not have a carrying case, remote, battery life indicator or StereoXL technology.). I think you would be happy with either Logitech iPod speaker model and you know that both will deliver good sound quality.

Do either of these come with a remote to at least control volume? I’m looking for a bedroom solution and want a remote on the nightstand.

Can the Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i recharge my iPod without being connected to a power outlet? i.e. when running on battery? If so, what’s the typical reduction of playing time?
Yes the iPod battery will still recharge even if the speakers are running on the rechargeable battery.

I misspoke earlier. Only when the speaker docks are plugged into via AC power (the wall) will it charge the iPod. I apologize for the confusion.

I have a Creative Zen and looking for a portable speaker to accompany me on my travel. How does the S315 look when you don’t put an ipod in it? All the docks I have seen so far leave a big ugly gap when you connect an mp3 player with the jack connector. Is there a cover?

Unfortunately we did not add a cover for the docking station so there would be a gap if you connect another music player via the 3.5mm jack connector.

Since the battery life of the S315i lasts longer, does it take longer to charge its battery than the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2? How long does it take to charge a compeltely dead battery of both models?

hi, quick question though, when using the speakers, i understand that charging of the ipod’s battery begin as well. when the battery is fully charged, is it still ok to be using the ipod with speakers? i’m concerned about the battery, will it be over charged? considering that it is a common belief that it is not good for cellphone batteries to be overcharged, will the same case scenario apply to ipods? hope to hear from you doug.

Part of being a Made for iPod partner with Apple is that we ensure we follow all of the protocols and specifications that guard against this. Our new iPod speaker docks include circuitry that detects the iPod battery level and cuts the charging circuit off once it is full.

I just bought the S315i and am absolutely delighted with the sound quality. It may be “no frills” given that there is no remote, etc., but then for the size and price it accomplishes what I have been wanting for some time.
Perfect for travel – it’s light, compact and appears durable. I now have the solution to getting to a hotel room with no music system and a lousy TV.

I bought a rechargeable Logitec at Ipod speaker system at Target about 3 weeks ago( PID A81) the remote control quit. I called your product support and the told me they dont warranty the remote!!! what kind of company is this? They wanted me to return it to Target within 30 days for a complete exchange. one problem I wont be back from vacation for two weeks Guess I’m out of luck
I just bought the 315i and have charged it up but when I plugged my ipod in either using the 3.5″ jack or the iPod dock, I get no sound … I have tried with a number of devices same problem … what am I doing wrong or could the unit be faulty even before I start. Thanks.

I am fully satified with a logitech MM50 speaker system as to quality of sound, but it doesn’t recharge the iPhone (a message appears on the iPhone to state that).
On this basis I bought through Applestore a LOGITECH PURE-FI EXPRESS IPHONE/IPOD-ZML with great expectations. It charges the iPhone and has a remote, but quality of sound is very poor (no highs, cotton-filled ears sound…), no internal rechargeable battery, and VERYcheap look. I had to give it back as soon as I heard it work.
Is S315i the product ?(i.e. does it sound like or better MM50?) Does exist a MM50 with iPhone recharging capabilities?
Am interested in getting this product, but i am in Kenya (East Africa). Do you have an office in East Africa
I bought this for my wife and she likes it a lot. One problem, however, is that the speaker always (auto) shut off after 15 minutes when she listens to CBC Radio International (french app) using her iPod touch. When the iPod touch is playing music, the speaker does not auto shut off. Is this a feature? I’ll exchange one to make sure it is the problem of just the unit I bought. But if the problem persists, I’ll have to return it.
I Bought the The Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime 2 for my daughter last Christmas (Apple Store sale). Within six months both of the volume buttons had broken off. Is it to late to contact Customer support?

Hi Doug, I like the look of the S315i portable speakers. I have previously purchased its predecessors the MM50 and the Pure-Fi Anywhere. Overall both were good. However, a disappointment of the MM50 was that when not connected to mains power and playing classical or instrumental music the speakers would turn themselves off after a few minutes. This was a consistent repeating fault. I was surprised to find exactly the same flaw with the Pure-Fi Is there any chance that this fault is eliminated in the S315i ?
